DOF Realityhttps://www.trackjunkies.org/topic/7348-dof-reality/

Does anyone in/around Austin have one of these rigs...

I'm thinking about building a system and on paper (and video) like what I see here -- but it's not cheap. Cheaper than most motion equipment, but still not cheap.

Would be 100% used for iRacing or similar to improve my real track driving.

Croft - best sim?https://www.trackjunkies.org/topic/7701-croft-best-sim/ Which is best for the Croft (UK) circuit  - iRacing or Assetto?
I need basic race prepped saloon cars rather than GT or serious stuff - ideally an E46 330, which may influence views.
cheers in advance!

Would anyone be interested in running laps at TWS or MSR Cresson on Assetto Corsa?https://www.trackjunkies.org/topic/5726-would-anyone-be-interested-in-running-laps-at-tws-or-msr-cresson-on-assetto-corsa/So I have roughly converted TWS and MSR Cresson from Rfactor to Assetto Corsa.

I can and have hosted a dedicated server for AC.  I was thinking that I could do a TJ server to run laps at TWS or MSRC.

Maybe one night a week we could organize a group of us to turn laps?

Texas World Speedway:  https://www.dropbox.com/s/00nbx1r0eub5u6j/tws.zip?dl=0

MSR Cresson 3.1:  https://www.dropbox.com/s/9npfhn9zayu7iaz/MotorSportRanch.zip?dl=0

To install the tracks extract the folder in the zip file to the following directory: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\content\tracks

Dedicated Server is named  "TrackJunkies - TWS"  Search for it in the online server browser inside AC.

Password:  TrackJunkies

Mumble (Voice Chat) Server: 71.41.246.117

Mumble Port: 64738

T3PA Pro Brake Setup?https://www.trackjunkies.org/topic/7267-t3pa-pro-brake-setup/ Does anyone here use the T3PA Pro pedals? I have mine setup with the conical brake mod on the brake pedal, but for the life of me I can't find settings that give me confidence in the brakes.

Driving in iRacing, right now its mostly Mazda Cup. I've made tons of adjustment to the brake mod and the in-game settings, but I just can't get it to a place where I can feel the brakes out accurately. Do I just need to get used to it with a ton of seat time? Or am I just retarded?

BUILD THREAD: Frederic's budget sim righttps://www.trackjunkies.org/topic/6229-build-thread-frederics-budget-sim-rig/Like all insane projects, this one started innocently enough.  I wanted to try out sim racing, in the hopes that I could get faster on the track.  But a sim just isn't in my budget right now.

I needed a new PC for work.  As I built it, it was easy enough to give it a video card that would let it run a simulator some day.  That's a justifiable expense, right?

Then Black Friday happened, and I picked up three Dell 22" monitors for $99 each.  I needed a triple monitor setup anyway for work, right?

A month later a used G27 came up for sale on Craigslist for a price that I couldn't ignore.  So I had to get that, right?

Shortly after, I checked prices on Assetto Corsa, and found that it was inexpensive enough to justify the cost.  Plus, I needed to try out the new G27 and make sure it worked, right?

Then iRacing went on sale, $99 for a two year subscription.  That's a great deal, right?

But despite all of this, I just can't justify a sim rig.  I got a good deal on some of the items.  I could build a stand and seat, but I have no place to put them.  Plus, the PC and monitors are needed for work, and so they have to stay at my desk.

So here's the challenge.  Find a way to convert this desk and chair into a racing sim, without taking away from the functionality of the office.  And do it without spending money unless absolutely necessary.

5a4c219b4382c_4S2xooD.jpg

Problem one.  The office chair rolls quite well on my plywood "chair mat".  I need a way to lock the wheels.  I decided to keep it simple and make a set of wooden chocks.  A couple of wooden wedges would have done the job.  But because I like to overcomplicate things, I decided to use my CAD/CAM skills.

Step 1:  Model the shape of the wheel in Calibre.  The extra challenge is that I removed one of the wheels in order to measure it, so I did my CAD work while sitting in a chair that wanted to tip over.

5a4c2296ef0e1_20180102_18h23_19.png

Step 2:  Program the toolpath in SprutCam

5a4c22d45e091_20180102_18h24_40.png

Step 3:  Machine the pocket in some scrap wood.  Repeat 4 more times.

The result of two hours of programming and 30 minutes of CNC work is a non-rolly office chair.

Just got into sim racing (G920) and wanted to try as many custom Texas tracks as I could. Links were somewhat scattered among different forums so thought I'd make to list post to put everything under one post. Here is what I have found as of 4.10.2019.  If anyone can find direct links to update this list (Games or tracks) let me know and I will edit post. Enormous shout out to all the developers that put lord knows how many hours into creating these!

Sim Computer Expert?https://www.trackjunkies.org/topic/7004-sim-computer-expert/ Does anyone know a sim computer expert in Austin.

I have a Corsair box with a Asus mother board and various other components that acts flaky sometimes.

I would love to have someone track down the gremlins and clean it up.

MSR Cresson, no longer works in multiplayer in AChttps://www.trackjunkies.org/topic/6707-msr-cresson-no-longer-works-in-multiplayer-in-ac/downloaded Cresson and TWS awhile back (awesome!) did some multiplayer with freinds back then online there was no problem.

now when we try Cresson, when the session is created, the track name is red (ie content you dont have) happened to all 3 of us.

it works just fine for all 3 of us in solo offline practice. and months ago it worked fine online multiplayer.

oddly TWS still works fine multiplayer online. loads without issue.

any ideas? anyone else running into this?

I'll be putting up a hosted session tonight on iRacing at COTA in the MX5 ~8pm CST if anyone wants to join.

MSR: Cresson on a Simulator (Assetto Corsa or rFactor?)https://www.trackjunkies.org/topic/6633-msr-cresson-on-a-simulator-assetto-corsa-or-rfactor/It looks like according to this thread, it's possible to drive MSR on a Sim. I have a sim rig, but have only ever played iRacing and Project: Cars on it.

Since I'm going to probably become a member at MSR: Cresson soon, I'd like to be able to practice driving it at home on my Sim Rig.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to which Sim (AC, rFactor, etc?) I should be using? Are there any guides or recommendations on how to set these sims up, or is it pretty straight forward? Does either of those sims offer a 911 to drive?

Also I'd prefer to not have to do a whole ton of customization or configuration if I don't have to. Thanks in advance!

FS: custom seat, wheel stand, Brakeshttps://www.trackjunkies.org/topic/6394-fs-custom-seat-wheel-stand-brakes/Seat was pulled from a e46 convertible. Its the leather sport seat and is SUPER cozy for very extended sessions. You could probably do a 24 hr in this thing and still feel good. All electric motors still work, you just need your own power source. I used a 12v battery from my electric drill. Seat is mounted to a metal frame by APIGA.  You can actually use this setup to mount directly to their wheel stand if you have it.

Stand is the Wheel Stand Pro GT2 version i believe, It's super sturdy and has holes drilled for fanatec wheel layouts. I forgot to take good pictures before i dismantled everything so i'll just throw up some stock photos.  I believe the stand was 200 new from amazon, so this should be a good deal for you folks.

Brake pedal set is the Fanatec CSR elite brakes.  Comes with an extra spare load cell.

I'd like $200 for the seat+stand combo.  $120 for the pedals.

Fs: Triples, wheelstand pro, and GTX 970https://www.trackjunkies.org/topic/6382-fs-triples-wheelstand-pro-and-gtx-970/Fs: 3 benq 2760hs bought in 2016. $120 for all three. In DFW.

We’re moving out of our house this week. Prefer not to ship. Monitors are in great shape. I cut a piece out of the front of one of the monitor stands to get the screens closer to me. Ugly but still functional.

VA panel, 60hz refresh rate, good pixel response time, very thin bezels. Worked well for triples. Only complaint is motion blur inherent to va panels.

GTX 970: sold

Wheelstand pro: $20. I made a mount for my pedals and then made that pedal mount into a shifter mount when I stopped using the wheelstand. Not sure if I still have the little metal bar and long bolt the wheelstand pro comes with. A piece of barstock and a bolt from Home Depot are all you need for g29/920 pedals.
